Cool Yule!

It has been a hot one this week and it feels strange to be making Christmas cards however that's the topic for this weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge - Cool Yule!

I have to admit I struggled and had several attempts to come up with something I liked - it must be the heat - so this is the third attempt. I think this guy is pretty cool all dressed up and ready to party.

PS Thank you to Kath for the instruction on how to create a link to a comment.

Cute Card Thursday

My second attempt at a challenge this time for Cute Card Thursday Challenge #20 Things That Grow.

I am not sure if fairies grow (I suppose they must) but the background paper has flowers, the fairy has a flower and there are some Prima flowers at the bottom. I like the dangly legs and silver shoes - a very glam fairy!

All I need to do now is post a comment on the Cute Card Thursday blog and hope for the best.

My First Challenge Attempt

Here is my first attempt at a challenge! This one is a Papertake Weekly Challenge and is based on Katharina's Sketch #7. The stamp is Sugar Nellie's Maggie, paper is Basic Grey Two Scoops, Prima flowers and Papercellar gems.

I hope this is a fair interpretation of the sketch. I really like the semi-circle shape on the card but would have liked it to have some embossing on it - I can feel a trip to Craftology coming on and a possible Cuttlebug purchase - someone get me to rehab please!!!

Glasgow River Festival

Today we went to the Glasgow River Festival which celebrates the maritime history of the River Clyde. Thankfully the gods were kind and there were periods of warm sunshine in between the clouds and surprisingly no rain.

There were various ships to climb aboard, a farmers market, beach volleyball, live bands, tours of BBC Scotland and STV, vintage fire engines, fun fairs, barbeques, beach volleyball, Zapcat experiences, Jet Ski races, mini cruises and a duck race when thousands of sponsored yellow plastic ducks were let loose on the Clyde in aid of the Variety Club of Scotland - didn't win the car boo hoo! Here are some pics of the day:

Free Day

At last a free day with no commitments other than a dental check-up this morning. No work needing done and then back home to play with my new stamps. All in all a good day however, got caught surrounded by all my craft paraphernalia and had to do a quick tidy up to hide the evidence.

Here are the results of my efforts today. I'm not sure about the Hamish card but quite pleased with the Sugar Nellie Pickin' Apples card - I will add the sentiment later once I have decided what to use it for.

NOTE TO SELF

Must get better at photography.

My First Hamish

Just got home from work today and my new stamps have arrived from Funky Kits; Maggie in a Wooly Jumper, Hamish in a Wooly Jumper, Hamish in a Kilt, Angus & Bone and Sugar Nellie Pickin' Apples. The rest of the evening is spent making my first Hamish card - so cute! Can't wait for the weekend to try the rest. Unfortunately, I need to be a wage slave in order to pay for this addiction.

Paper from Cuddly Buddly, ribbon and buttons from Papermania.

Harry Benson – A photographer's journey

If you get the chance, go along to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow to see the exhibition of photographs from the 60-year career of Harry Benson, the internationally renowned photographer from Glasgow.

You may not recognise his name but you will certainly recognise many of his iconic photographs. Benson has photographed every American president since Dwight D Eisenhower, was just feet away from Bobby Kennedy when he was assassinated, and was in the room with Richard Nixon when he resigned. The exhibition runs till Sunday 14th September 2008.

Last One For Today

I have done nothing else all day - I may have a touch of OCD. I need to stop messing about with this, stop floating about in hyperspace and get back to the real world. Anyway, this is a retirement card for a lady in work who retires on Friday after 30 years service - lucky her! Just a quick card using Jolly Nation decoupage papers.

Hurrah!

My first card for my blog.

This is for my friend Senga's 65th birthday. She is the furthest thing from an OAP you can get - more like a recycled teenager! The papers are from Pink Petticoat 'Blooming Doodles' Collection. Ribbon and bling from Papermania.

Under Construction!

Building my blog at the moment - I wish I new what I was doing. Managed to get a clock after about an hour but I think I have got the hang of it now.
